O. Children is the London-based quartet of Tobi O'Kandi (singer and main songwriter), Andi Sleath (drums), Gauthier Ajarrista (guitarist) and Harry James (bass). Referencing post-punk and new wave, the band take their name from a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds song, and there is much about that group's early sound and dark subject matter to be found here. I thought this O. Children video was a joke or at the very least, an unfunny outtake from The Mighty Boosh. Then, the song's insistent melody wouldn't leave my brain so I pressed replay. 'Dead Disco Dancer' is an obvious bastardisation of Joy Division, Nick Cave and Bauhaus. Despite all this, the song is growing on me.
