Demos from Ben Mercer, aka RCSA ( facebook / twitter ), have been kicking around since last summer - but with Captain, he is finally releasing his debut single. His sound blends nervous electric energy and tropical glimmers, a clash of glitchy electro-pop and dark, hypnotic undertones. There's an urgency to his music that will make you sit up and listen, eyes wide, and keep you on edge. RCSA - Captain will be released on 30th April on Manta Ray Music RCSA - Pretty (demo) [...]

As one-half of the Moor Music duo Electric President, Ben Cooper traded in the kind of electro-pop melancholy that made the spines of Postal Service fans tingle. But his diet is more organic when he works alone as Radical Face , whose rapturous folk music is as stirring as it is conceptual. His 2007 album "Ghost" was based on the idea that houses are inhabited by the events that have taken place in them, and the songs on his forthcoming second record "The Family Tree: the Roots" (out Oct. 4 on his own Bear Machine Records) — recorded in [...]

Radical Face is the moniker held by Ben Cooper, the solo project from one half of Electric President . This project is blends a sound familiar in that band, but with fewer electronics and more orchestration along the lines of eclectic orchestral groups Efterklang and Anathallo, mixed with a little Michael Nau (Page France, Cotton Jones). "Doorways" is similarly melodic and features an off-beat piano. The song is off the band's latest release, a beautifully crafted, six-song EP called Touch The Sky . [...]
Radical Face, the moniker of 24 year old Ben Cooper, plays some beautiful, epic music. This video for their song, “Doorways”, features relatives of Cooper, who all supposedly worked for pizza. The whole video was made for around 150 dollars, which is amazing considering how stunning the video is. I get a big “Where The WIld Things Are” vibe from this, especially with all the kids using their imagination to the fullest. The song comes off of the band’s new EP, Touch The Sky, which is a little prequel before the band is set to release a trilogy of album [...]

Radical Face is the solo project of Ben Cooper, musician, illustrator, and artist based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. On November 16, 2010, Radical Face will release the EP Touch The Sky via Morr Music. In 2007, Radical Face released Ghost, an album that presented the simple idea: what if houses had memories? Some of the songs on Ghost were from people still living their lives, some were from the point of view of those dead and gone, watching over the living or haunting them. Be sure to check out the "Making [...]

The Brute Chorus "Heaven" from How The Caged Bird Sings Release Date: October 12, 2010
I've raved before about Ben Cooper. As one half of Electric President, he's crafted wonderfully dark and poignant indie electronic music. Cooper's solo work as Radical Face has always intrigued me, in particular for its simple but powerful instrumentation and ... Continue reading

Radical Face is the solo project of a brilliant mind known as Ben Cooper, an artist from Jacksonville Florida who will release his work of art, "Touch the Sky" on November 16th. Ben Cooper's music trajectory is quite amazing, on his 2007 album 'Ghost' Cooper wrote a brilliant album based on the idea of "What if houses had memories?" A thought everyone has thought about it, but no one had ever written about this subject in a song; it is easy to see why I'm so smitten by the song "Doorways", as the song grabs every sense and lightens [...]

Hear ye! Hear Ye! Radical Face (Ben Cooper) has released the video for “Doorways” from the recently released Touch the Sky EP . Conjuring up images of Peter Pan and, to get a bit personal (as always), my sister and I playing in the wooded area across the street from my childhood home, Cooper and collaborator Mark Hubbard succinctly harness (yet again) that childhood feeling. You know the one - - of dirt under our fingernails, wet dog best friends and no worries, aside from the monsters our imaginations introduced us to years ago, before bill paying [...]
