Surprisingly solid full-album remix tilts the balance more towards dance than hip-hop but keeps the spirit intact. It feels like it's been longer than a year since Theophilus London's last big release, 2011's Timez Are Weird These Days. At the time, I remember hearing a lot of talk about how ahead of the curve he was, how his sound was the future, where hip-hop was going. Hot on the heels of genre-obliterating releases like This Charming Mixtape, which had established him as a Stetson-wearing iconoclast who fluidly covered the whole spectrum from...

There's something different about the energy at a hip hop show. Something that you can't capture elsewhere. The lights go down on stage, and you can feel the thrum of the crowd as their excitement coalesces into one pulse, one beat. They're leaning around each other, looking over shoulders as they peer down a dimly lit hallway that they know houses the VIP room from which Theophilus London will make his exit and take the stage at the Grog Shop . Guys in LVRS jackets and hats take the stage, shuffling things around, taping [...]
THEOPHILUS LONDON, BREAKFAST MOUNTAIN ( Doug Fir , 830 E Burnside) Theophilus London is the best of all things. A little soul, a little hiphop, and a whole lot of everything else in between, the dynamic Brooklyn singer bridges the gap between the pop-rap of Kid Cudi or N.E.R.D. and the atmospheric arrangements of TV on the Radio. His Timez Are Weird These Days debut has something for everyone, a perfect fit for those who like music sans the pesky genre labels. EZRA ACE CARAEFF [...]

So it is with great joy in our hearts that we pack up our things and ship out to Austin for one of our last festivals of the year, the illustrious Austin City Limits . In order to properly prepare our psyches (and yours) for the [...]
Just in case you wanted clarifications on how to pronounce the name of multi-talented Theophilus London offers his video 'Last Name London' to help. The Brooklyn raised rapper/producer has dropped the mixtapes ‘This Charming Mixtape’ and ‘I Want You’ to garner online success before the release of 'Lovers Holiday' EP earlier this year. With collaborations [...]

Theophilus London - Timez Are Weird These Days Reprise: 2011 Every time I hear Theophilus London, I hear Kid Cudi. That low vocal pitch and mumbling cadence. The pounding synths and deep bass lines to mask said cadence. The obvious lust for pop star status, even if Cudi's path was sidetracked briefly by a very public bout with drug addiction. And when I hear Theophilus, I hear a very confident - if not slightly cocky - young man, whose cavalier attitude toward women and responsibility lend to my overwhelming perception that [...]

![Theophilus London: Timez Are Weird These Days [Reviewed/Drops 7-19-11]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3580190_lg.jpg)
So this TL record drops on 7/19/11 on Warner Bros. (Available for pre-order on iTunes now). It's pretty good, but different from the London sound we're accustomed to hearing. Maybe that's because now instead of using Machinedrum aka Travis Stewart as a producer, Theophilus is using Dan Carey , who has produced for artists like Hot Chip, Lily Allen, Sia, Franz Ferdinand, The Kills, and the list goes on. [...]

Here's new video from Theophilus London and his latest effort "Last Name London". The video is somewhat of a 90s throwback and some scene are reminiscent of the old Michael Jackson video "Jam"...
