(Thank you for the photo Los Anjealous !) The past couple days almost everyone I see asks me what my favorite performance at Coachella was. It was sort of a surprise to me when I heard myself saying St. Vincent for the first time. I have always been a fan of St. Vincent (Those of you who listen to FMLY Radio know this) but I wasn't expecting such intensity and strength. Unlike her very produced CD (which I am a big fan of), her live performance evokes honest and powerful emotion. If you have just heard the [...]
I normally don't post on Saturdays, but at the moment I am bored out of my mind. I've been sitting here for a couple of hours watching music videos and decided to just post a bunch of them. I stopped giving a shit about music videos a long time ago, but it's great to watch them from bands I actually enjoy. "Katrina" - Black Lips Uploaded [...]
Without a doubt, St. Vincent's solo performance at Largo, this past May, stands as my favorite show thus far in 2007. Certainly high praise when you consider it was just Vincent (Annie Clark), her guitar, a kick drum, and piano. That modest combination proved to be amazing - prompting us to say this the day after: [...]

Gotta love that pre-release buzz cycle. Seem like you've been prepping for Annie's debut LP for months now? That's 'cause you have. ( Three months , actually.) Next week, Texan siren St. Vincent makes it all official, proposing to fans and foes alike with Marry Me , showcasing Ms. Clark's distinct compositional stylings for the masses to consume. Of course something of that is lost when you see Annie do it solo, though the stripped take on her Marry cuts makes for easy songwriting analysis. And, watching her fingerpick her way through the classically-tinged absinthe-y "Paris Is [...]
While our hosting company figures out why they hate us, I wanted to share some music from the ever-so talented St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark). My first encounter with St. Vincent was while watching a video of her one woman show here: Needless to say I was mesmerized with her unrelenting guitar work, brooding vocals and inventiveness. On July 10th, St. Vincent will be releasing her debut LP,
The debut album from Annie Clark, under the guise of St. Vincent is due out next Tuesday from the Beggars group. The album is not quite as strong as I had hoped it would be, although the best songs are really amazing. I just did not feel that as a whole it lived up to my admittedly high expectations after hearing the first single, "Now Now". That being said, it is certainly worth picking up and judging for yourself, and from all accounts, it may be an even better idea to catch Annie live [...]
Next week marks the release of St. Vincent's debut album, Marry Me . As we've mentioned before, this is the musical project of Annie Clark, who has previously spent time in the choir for the Polyphonic Spree as well as in Sufjan Stevens' touring band. With the album comes a string of tour dates, which she has just expanded to run through the first couple of weeks in August. To see what all the buzz is about, watch the video clip of her performing a DUMBO session of her song "Your Lips Are Red." [...]
