THE KILLS, COLD CAVE, THE ENTRANCE BAND ( Wonder Ballroom , 128 NE Russell) If you were to take some members of late-'90s/early-'00s punk/hardcore-members of Discount, American Nightmare, and the Convocation Of-and tell them that more than a decade into the future they'd all be touring together, playing music in different bands that barely resemble their hardcore past, they'd probably just write it off as some farfetched prophecy. But since Discount's Alison Mosshart went on to form the long-running Kills, American Nightmare's Wesley Eisold found the goth that lingered inside with Cold Cave, and the Convocation [...]

Alison Mosshart*, the American vocalist and guitarist also known as "VV", and her British counterpart and guitarist Jamie Hince, a.k.a. "Hotel", make up The Kills, who play Neumos tonight with The Horrors and Magic Wands. The Kills represent garage rock and bluesy punk with a seductively sleazy style - like a trashy, smoke filled dive bar that's actually one of the coolest spots in town (if the Kills were a place in Seattle, they would probably be Cha Cha). Their sound has been compared to the White Stripes and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, though a bit slower [...]

The Kills - Midnight Boom (Domino) -- Lou Reed & PJ Harvey had a dirty, dirty daughter and her name is The Kills --
This week, Stoplight Sleep brings you my humble picks for this years best songs. First, we'll look at my top 10, followed by the 50 best list. So here we go . . . 10. The Dodos "God" from Visiter "God" is one of the few tracks where Meric Long's machine-gun precussion and Logan Kroeber's acoustic sprints [...]

After going through my music files, I have settled on a handful of songs that are definitely going on the CD. There are a few good ones missing here, thanks to the total computer meltdown I had in the middle of the year, which means I'm going to have to go through the physical music files as well...and buy a new burner. Sigh. Anyhow, when I try to sum up this year, it feels like it should be with a combination of angry punk, rocking anthems of hope, a few mellow chill-out songs, and a few other random [...]
The Kills are known for creating raucous blues-based garage rock. There's always losts of clattering, banging, and wailing going on during their high octane songs. The Anglo/American duo's latest album, Midnight Boom , takes a divergent path. The band turned the clang-rock quotient way down while torquing up the groove element. From the opening track "U.R.A. Fever" on, you know this is something a little different. Behind the newly prominent indie groove are songs that are more crisp and focussed than previous efforts. The tracks seem more thoughtout and more traditionally constructed. Don't [...]
The Kills, who have been grabbing music magazine headlines for their dark, slinky sound, are the subject of a remix that addresses not only the audio, but also the video. First, here's The Kills version of the song and its video to the right. And here's Jazzasteppa 's "quirky indie rock & upbeat dubstep remix" of both the audio and the video: [...]
The kills is certainly one of the greatest bands out there and yes they another import from England. As impolite as it may sound every time I play their CD it always makes me wanna do some blow on top of a really hot girl. As I was looking for new remixes out there, I ran into a Simian Mobile Disco remix of their song, "Love is a Deserter". For those of you who are asking is this remix any good, ask you self: Has anything that SMD ever made really bad? Aren't The [...]

"We ain't born typical" - the line is repeated in the Kills ' new single, which is a nice way of saying they are way cooler than you. The video is full of dim lighting, subtle vintage film effects, and film noir allusions. The duo plays dress up while looking like a younger Lou Reed and a hipper Neve Campbell . This post has: 1 [...]
The Kills - "Cheap and Cheerful" (YouTube) Omg, who is else totally psyched for the new Kills album?? It might be one of the most anticipated album on 2008 - I'm not sure if I'm more excited about hearing XXXchange's production or new songs from The Kills. URA Fever (more...)
Excellent London duo Alison 'VV' Mosshart and Jamie 'Hotel' Hince b.k.a. The Kills return with their third long player 'Midnight Boom' in March on Domino . It was preceeded by this grooved up stomper which came out in the middle of last month and completely missed my radar until I saw it on one sided Vinyl the other day. If you know The Kills then you know what to expect, if you don't then you're in for a bit of a treat. mp3: the kills - u.r.a. fever.

I haven't really heard much of The Kills' stuff before and, like most people I suppose, my main point of reference (yes, I'm ashamed to admit it) is the fact that Jamie Hince is the on / off boyfriend of Kate Moss . I'm sure he's delighted at that fact.
