Personne ne peut dénier l'énorme rôle qu'il a joué dans l'histoire de la musique américaine de la fin du XXème siècle, autant d'un point de vue artistique que d'un point de vue économique ou socio-politique. On l'a sans doute un peu oublié ces dernière années, depuis la sortie de Dangerous (son dernier album pas complètement raté), quand sa vie s'est transformée en une triste suite de procès (sur lesquels je m'interdis d'avoir la moindre opinion).
