Santigold brings on the weirdness, and guest GZA, in her new self-directed video: "The Keepers."

The video for Santigold's "The Keepers," the third single off of Master Of My Make Believe , the singer's sophomore effort, has premiered. The video is a warped, nightmarish caricature of American suburban life and the nuclear family, one that might be too close to the actual norm to keep viewers comfortable. The stellar Master of Make Believe gets another video. Santigold's third single is "The Keepers". The video was directed by my favorite video director today, Nabil and it features cameos by GZA, Kick Kennedy, and Trevor Andrew. If you missed Santigold touring this past spring, she will be at summer festivals Lollapalooza and Reading and Leeds.

SantiGold certainly doesn't need my help getting word out. However, this video for The Keepers is too great not to post!

Santigold released a new video for the single, "The Keepers" from the newest album, Master of My Make-Believe, a few days ago and it nearly slipped through without a post. The video seems kind of strange, but it is actually pretty symbolic with the lyrics and what is shown in the visual. You'll see a bloodied milkman, a mysterious hit squad led by GZA, and a blond-haired family eating glowing-radioactive food. With her newest single "The Keepers" off her new album,  Master of My Make-Believe ,  Santigold offers viewers an overt societal critique which now has an appropriate surreal visual accompaniment. The video which is describes as a "green tinted social critique set to a highly danceable beat" is chock-full of symbolic imagery.  The song's chorus, "We're the keepers, while we sleep in America, our house is burning down" is quite telling of the song's overt message of society's complacent and indifferent reaction to the decaying state of our nation.
