It hasn't even been two years since Tindersticks' last release, The Hungry Saw . The rush shows. To be honest, I've never really gotten over Tindersticks' eponymous second album (sometimes called Tindersticks II). It's flawless. I come back to it every winter, as if there's something about this uniquely British melancholia -- the sweeping string arrangements, Stuart Staples's haunting baritone (enough to make Nick Cave sound positively pubescent), lyrics of regret and longing -- that simply fits with desolate, snowy landscapes. It is, really, a seasonal thing: like clockwork, when December arrives,...

Stuart Staples and his suit wearing troubadours have been delivering heart wrenching ballads to a loyal faithful of melancholy miseralites (sic) for the best part of two decades now, and have enough tunes in the bank to probably call it quits. With the release of this magnificent eclectic bunch of songs, it seems the boys from Nottingham have a few years left in them yet. Falling Down A Mountain , the title of the both the first track and the album, opens up like an ode to Miles Davis' Kind of Blue [...]

- Frequenze preview - Non è facile trovare una copertina che faccia cosi bene pendant con i tenui colori pastello del nostro vetusto template come quella del nuovo album di Stewart A. Staples & co. This does not go on long enough: My excitement towards the huge amount of great bands releasing music in the early part of 2010 has been dulled considerably after giving an advance listen (draw your own conclusion) to several of these releases. With the clip above, along with the one track that's already been released, I'm remaining hopeful that Tindersticks will make me excited about 2010 again.
