Do a search for "trap" on SoundCloud and you'll find more than 500 tracks uploaded with the tag in the last three days. What's interesting, though, are the labels that show up with the most frequency in the similar tags section: "bass," "club," "dance," "dj," "dubstep," and "electronic" appear right below the expected "rap," "hip-hop," "remix," and "South." I think TNGHT have released enough surplus material to fill up another EP anyway. Their style of over-the-top horns and ... Continue reading

Another form of music that really has been growing on me is these producers/DJ's who form some wild remixes of already popular tracks. Now these aren't mash-ups that I'm talking about, because I still generally do not like those. Waka Flocka Flame's crazy energetic, "Rooster in My Rari" got the remix treatment from a duo going by TNGHT , who give this track some new life without completely re-doing Waka 's craziness. TNGHT is the moniker for Hudson Mohawke and Lunice , who already have a pretty impressive collection of solo [...]

Son Raw don't like your kind, you a bougie hoe. Lunice and Hudson Mohawke have apparently had enough of canny interlopers borrowing bits and pieces of their swag for the purpose of multi-million dollar rap hits. To be honest, I'm not too sure what they're talking about: the dialogue between their luminescent brand of bass music and mainstream Hip-Hop has always seemed fairly unidirectional save for maybe Azealia Banks, although I support any and all attempts to reverse that situation. Young Chop, Southside and Lex Luger may not be running around with Night [...]

Say what you want in the comments section, but, honestly, there's just something endearing Waka Flocka Flame 's unapologetically raucous, riot-causing, trap-inspired hip-hop. Yeah, it's ignorant as all get out, but it also lends itself to some pretty awesome remixes. Like TNGHT 's take on "Rooster In My Rari", an already-booming track that gets amped up here thanks to Lunice and Hudson Mohawke 's handiwork. FLEX.
