Grouper Dates New Album Release

Grouper - Heavy Water / I'd Rather Be Sleeping
Though there isn't much more than a blurb on this but Grouper, the electro-acoustic, ambient noise project of musician Liz Harris announced on her very mystical website, that A I A, the much anticipated new album, will be a two part vinyl and self released in early 2011. Last year, Grouper's third full-length "Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill" gave Pitchfork an instant orgasm and this year, the video for "Hold the Way", a song from her new EP Vessel made their top music videos of 2009 [...]

Filled with hazy, broken melodies and unsettling effects, the record took me by storm in early December and hasn't let go since. Essentially a one-woman project led by Portland, Oregon, musician Liz Harris , Grouper's music is generally emotive, haunting, and lo-fi, chock full of decaying melodies and reverb-drenched beauty. After spending a portion of 2009 touring with Animal Collective , Harris seems ready to reveal her latest work to a new batch of fans. Though there's very little information to be found otherwise, [...]
