The Dead Weather @ Home Sweet Home in July ( more by Ryan Muir ) The Dead Weather will be performing at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight (11/17) with an opening set by Ecstatic Peace-signed Australians Violent Soho . To go with that, some other Jack White news... Jack White will be working with "Queen of Rockabilly" Wanda Jackson . The pairing sounds similar to what White did with Loretta [...]
I am in a strange mood today. Maybe it is cause I have been buried underneath the stress of a 20 page Grad School paper. Anyways... the theme of this post is space. Don't over think it kids. Video above is a remix of "A Glorious Dawn" featuring Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking. It [...]
John Boswell ft. Carl Sagan & Stephen Hawking ~ " A Glorious Dawn " I saw this video last week and was going to post it before my computer crashed. I forgot about it until they played the song on Morning Becomes Eclectic this morning so I am posting it now. Here's my simile: The video above is to science/space as the video below is to Disney movies:
Time to get your Sunday on! Dirty Projectors - Stillness Is The Move -- definitely not the video I would have pictured for this song...but somehow it makes sense Grizzly Bear - Ready, Able The xx - Islands -- guess what, there are a lot of X's in this video Carl Sagan - A ...
Simplemente increíble remix de dos grandes divulgadores de la ciencia Carl Sagan y la super estrella Stephen Hawkings quienes nos presentan el tema "A Glorious Dawn" nada menos remixeado por el Cosmos ¿quien más? vía living ears
I don't know who had this idea but it is really incredible. The music is excellent and the words are beautiful. They paint a very brilliant image of sunrise from outer space. Carl Sagan & Stephen Hawking - Glorious Dawn (Cosmos Remixed)
"If you wish to make a pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe," croons an auto-tuned Carl Sagan, thus kicking off "A Glorious Dawn," which Third Man Records is releasing as a 7" on Nov. 9. to coincide with the astronomer's birthday. "A Glorious Dawn" is by composer John Boswell, who remixed words from Carl Sagan -- culled from his "Cosmos" television series -- into a piece of electronica. Featuring Stephen Hawkin, this weirdly awing video fuses the wonder of science, electronic-music optimism and 80's optimism into relevant trip hop. [...]
My friend CBlack sent this video to me today thinking it was fitting for our new line. One of the best YouTube videos I have ever seen. A must watch for any other Carl Sagan fans.
You might have already seen this. But if you haven't, watch it now. Because it's brilliant. Oh auto-tune. You're the best. So this has been playing pretty frequently at our house over the last couple weeks - but it was just yesterday I found out that Jack White will be releasing the song, which was composed by John Boswell , as a limited run vinyl single on Third Man Records . And why not, right? And just in case you didn't know: that was Carl Sagan [...]
Now, I posted an piece about this on "Today In Music News" over at DC9, and truth be told... this song is actually pretty good. And informational, it's entertaining... it's infotaining. I've always been fascinated by space and other planets, so, this came a quite a pleasant surprise to me. The songs is great and comes off quite nicely. But, it's also interesting how much Carl Sagan sounds like Kermit The Frog. MP3: Carl Sagan Ft. Stephen Hawking - A Glorious Dawn

Just heard yesterday that Jack White's new label is going to be releasing a 7" vinyl featuring a Carl Sagan-/Stephen Hawking-sampling tune. The record is inspired by the overwhelming success of a song uploaded (by a guy called Cosmos) to YouTube. To date, the video has more than 1.4 million views. If you ever need evidence that we live in a totally bonkers era, re-read everything in that first paragraph. What an absurdly fantastic idea. [...]
First, Fake AP Stylebook gets a book deal, now a YouTube video's getting a seven-inch record. Looks like the Internet is for real! The vid in question is that Carl Sagan Auto-Tune (embedded abov... Variety: Santa Cruz, Calif.-based BlueBeat.com apparently began marketing the Fab Four tracks—hitherto unavailable from online music merchants—at lowball prices late last week. EMI, which distribs Beatles recordings via an agreement with the group's music company, Apple Corps, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the company Tuesday in federal court in Los Angeles. Company also issued a curt statement: "EMI has not authorized content to be sold on BlueBeat." In a twist ripe with irony, representatives of Media Rights Technologies [owners of Bluebeat] recently wrote to the Librarian of Congress asking that the webcasting licenses [...]
