Forty five years ago today, the Beatles played what was to be their final formal concert in San Francisco's Candlestick Park. While 24,000 fans screamed pretty much nonstop, the band couldn't hear over the noise to sing on key. The Beatles took the stage at 9:27 p.m. local time and performed 11 songs. Only the four musicians knew that this was going to be their final U.S. concert. Of course, their true "final" live gig didn't happen until January 1969 when the Fab Four surprised a central London office lunch crowd with an impromptu concert on the roof [...]
